A Human-Centered Approach

During the course, interdisciplinary student teams applied their knowledge of technology use in Kenya to a hands-on group design project. They used the human-centered design (HCD) process to create innovative technology prototypes.

HCD is a creative, interdisciplinary, participatory, and iterative approach to problem-solving that places the user at the center of the design process. The process typically consists of three broad stages: understanding, ideation, and implementation. These phases guided the students’ projects.
